History of our hotel

In 1976, Karl Psenner senior acquired Hotel Weisslahnbad, whose history goes back 200 years. In 1978, Karl’s son Leo Psenner took over as manager of this hotel. Later, Karl’s second son, also named Karl Psenner, acquired the annex building of Hotel Weisslahnbad from his father. This annex was situated across the road leading to Hotel Weisslahnbad. In 1979, this became Hotel Piné, which started receiving guests in 1981. The name Piné is of Rhaeto-Romanic origin and is derived from the name of the forest above Hotel Piné. Between 1981 and 1988 Karl Psenner junior and his wife Erna managed both Hotel Piné and the pub “Gasthaus zur Rose” located in the centre of Tiers, where they were living. In 1989 the whole family moved to Hotel Piné and has remained there ever since. Several renovations and additions improved and enlarged the hotel. Worth mentioning are the construction of the sauna/whirlpool in 1993, the annex at the back of the hotel, the enlargement of the dining-hall and the renovation of the bar/lobby, in 2001 and 2004, respectively. Over the years, the rooms also experienced several renovations, e.g., the furniture was changed from the original dark wood to more friendly light wood.
